Frequently Asked Questions:

** Do I need a ticket to get into graduation? In the event of rain, we will hold Commencement inside and tickets would be needed.

** When do I get my actual diploma? After the ceremony, once the gown is turned in. For those not walking, it's available between 8 am and 2:30 pm Monday - Friday on weekdays starting the day after Memorial Day. Note - all fees must be paid before the diploma will be issued.

** When do I get my Cap & Gown? Mid-May, Jostens will bring them to THS or Butler Tech directly.

** Do we purchase or rent the gowns? They are rented through Jostens. This allows us to get a significantly nicer robe.

** Is graduation rehearsal mandatory? And if so, what do I need to bring? Yes - in order to walk at the ceremony, students must attend rehearsal (time TBD). Students will bring their caps and gowns to rehearsal (on a wire hanger) and leave them at THS after rehearsal is complete.

** Since the gowns are rented, how do I return my gown? Gowns are turned into Jostens in the THS Cafeteria immediately following the ceremony. Students will not receive their diplomas until their gown is turned in. Tassels, stoles, cords, and caps are yours to keep.

** Are students permitted to decorate their caps? No - Cap decoration is not allowed as part of the commencement ceremony.

Senior Fees

Seniors must return their Chromebook, charger, and case, have all school fees paid, and other financial obligations (pay-to-participate, library fines, lost books, lost textbooks, athletic equipment, and uniforms, etc.) paid and/or returned in order to participate in commencement. Fees must be paid no later than May 16th. Personal checks will not be accepted after May 2nd —after that date, fees must be paid in cash or on EZ-Pay.

Preferred Name for Graduation:

The Commencement Booklet and Diploma, like all official school documents, will include the full, legal name of each graduate.

However, we appreciate that some of our students prefer a name other than that on their birth certificate. With that in mind, we allow parents/guardians to permit a preferred name as your graduate crosses the stage. Examples: Maxwell prefers "Max"; Maria prefers "Alex"; or William prefers "Billy"

Should you/your graduate prefer a different name, please complete the REQUEST FORM and return it to the THS Main Office no later than 3 PM on Tuesday, May 20. This will allow the ceremony planning team to make the necessary adjustments.
