TALAWANDA HIGH SCHOOL E- News- January 7, 2022

Parents/Guardians

As you may know, as of Monday (1/10/22) the mask mandate will be lifted for Talawanda School District.  Masking is still strongly encouraged at this time as we are seeing record numbers of positive Covid cases among our students and staff.  Below is a broken down explanation of the guidelines for staff and students.

  • Unvaccinated people exposed at school, need to wear a mask for 10 days after last exposure. If they develop symptoms or test positive, they need to stay home.

  • Fully vaccinated people exposed at school, need to wear a mask for 10 days after last exposure. If they develop symptoms or test positive, they need to stay home.

  • Unvaccinated people exposed at home, need to stay home for 5 days after last exposure, then wear a mask for 5 days at school. If they develop symptoms or test positive, they need to stay home.

  • Fully vaccinated people exposed at home, need to wear a mask for 10 days after last exposure. If they develop symptoms or test positive, they need to stay home.

  • Positive people must quarantine for 5 days. If better, no fever or symptoms (without medication), can return to school on day 6, but must wear a mask from day 6 thru day 10. Once the mask mandate has been lifted, and they refuse to wear a mask, they must stay home to finish quarantine thru day 10.

  • If you have Covid-like symptoms, you fall under the existing procedures of testing to return, getting an alt. diagnosis, etc...

  • Please note "fully vaccinated" means that someone must have received their booster OR completed the pfizer/moderna vaccine series less than 6 months ago OR completed J&J vaccine less than 2 months ago.

  • If someone has tested positive in the past 90 days, if exposed to another positive case, they still need to wear a mask for 10 days. If they develop symptoms, they need to get tested and stay home.

If you are unsure what category your child may fall into, please contact the nurse for more information.  Taylor Bystrom, bystromt@talawanda.org, 513-273-3200.

Also please know that this is the latest information and guidelines we have, and can change without notice.  If that happens, we will notify you.

Sincerely,

Tom York, Talawanda High School Principal
