Marshall Elementary Weekly E-News

September 11, 2020

A Peaceful, Productive, Healthy, and Happy Community

The mission of Marshall Elementary is to work as a community to achieve higher levels of thinking and learning by empowering every learner everyday.

School News and Information

Happy Friday!  We hope you have had a great week.  It was so great to start our lunch time sessions and give students the opportunity to socialize with their friends and I had fun chatting with them as well.  I was also able to jump into some classrooms this week and watch some lessons.  It is great to see the number of students in attendance and to here the number of students completing their work. The Marshall staff has done a great job working on routines and procedures and that is now paying off in instruction.  Great job Marshall staff and students (also parents)!

Marshall Media Center

We are pleased to announce that Mrs. Scherzinger will offer curbside book pick up.  Please use this link  to check out our Marshall Elementary Media Center site.

Also check out the Bookmobile dates and times.  Please use this link to find all the TSD locations.  Thank you to the Lane Library and the Bookmobile for partnering with Talawanda.

Attendance

Some families have asked about the attendance policy.  Here is the statement from the Remote Learning Handbook.  Please make sure you are in communication with your child’s teacher with any attendance issues or questions.

School closure has caused us to think creatively as how to ensure that our students are ready for the next grade level. Attendance and accountability for learning are important during the school closure. Our administrators and teachers will contact students and parents through personal phone calls and virtual sessions to determine family needs.  Attendance will be determined in various ways, including: completed work, online contacts through Zoom, Google Classroom, and SeeSaw. If students are not completing work or participating in learning, teachers will be contacting parents, principals, counselors, and social workers to work with families to develop plans for student engagement based on the needs of each student. The lack of attendance and work completion will have a negative impact on student grades. Office hours for teachers will be held on a consistent basis in order to accommodate students whom the daily schedule does not meet.
