School News and Information

Happy Friday!  We hope you’ve had a great week.  Friendly reminder, there is no school on Friday, October 13, 2023, for Fall Break.

As the weather starts to get cooler, please send in a sweatshirt or coat with your child. Some grades have a recess in the morning when it is pretty chilly out still.  Please label coats with your child’s name.

Thank you to everyone who attended and supported our Kramer Carnival.  It was a huge success.  We were able to raise over $9100 for the Kramer PTG.  We had amazing weather and generous families that supported the Kramer PTG.

Thank you to our carnival chair, Sara Corbin.  Sara and her team did an amazing job.  We would also like to thank Molly Farler, Carla Blackmar Rice, Jill Levenderis, Jennifer Bulanda, and Chandra Ackley.  We had a great group of volunteers that made this day a success and we can’t thank you enough.

Fall Conference Meals

Fall conferences are on Tuesday, Oct. 17th & Thursday, Oct. 19th.  The teachers go straight from a day of teaching to conferences.  The PTG provides dinner on both nights to ensure teachers have a good meal & to show our appreciation.  PTG provides the main course & we ask our PTG families to volunteer to provide the sides, desserts & drinks.  On Tuesday the teachers are having submarine sandwiches.  On Thursday they are having soup & salad.  Please consider donating for one or both nights.  It can be homemade or store-bought.  If you don't have time & would prefer to just send in money, a check, or a Kroger gift card, that works too!  Send to school, addressed to "Kramer PTG Conference Meals".

Please read the Signup Genius to see what we need.  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0949AFAC23ABF58-44967542-fall#/

Thank you as always for your support of our Kramer staff & the PTG!  If you have any questions, please contact Molly Farler, kramerptg@gmail.com.

Update: Bus Info & School Start Times- Holli Hansel

The Talawanda Administration has been working to address concerns regarding school busing, morning drop-offs/afternoon pick-ups, and teacher planning time.

Although we do not have the ability at this time to resolve every issue, this plan will alleviate some of the issues we’ve been experiencing.  We are announcing the plan now to give families and teachers advance notice for planning purposes.

The following plan will go into effect on Monday, December 4, 2023:

TMS Schedule (Talawanda Middle School):

School Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.

The cafeteria opens at 7:15 a.m.

Bus drop-off for TMS students will occur at 7:45 a.m.

Elementary School Schedule:

School Hours: 8:25 a.m. to 3:05 p.m.

Vehicle drop-off for elementary school students begins at 8:05 a.m.

Bus drop-off for elementary school students will occur between 8:10 a.m. and 8:15 a.m.

Efforts are being made to ensure that car riders have sufficient time for drop-off.

Preschool Morning:

8:25 a.m. to 11:25 a.m.

Preschool Afternoon:

12:05 p.m. to 3:05 p.m.

THS and TMS Opening Times:

THS (Talawanda High School) opens at 7:00 a.m.

TMS (Talawanda Middle School) opens at 7:15 a.m.

Flexible Drop-off Schedule:

If you have students in multiple buildings, please note the following information.

Car rider drop-off can begin at THS between 7:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.

After THS drop-off, parents can proceed to the TMS drop-off area at 7:40 a.m.

Following TMS drop-off, parents have the flexibility to go to any elementary school drop-off

Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures

Starting on Monday, October 2, 2023, there will be some changes and guidelines in place for vehicle access and traffic flow around the Kramer parking lot. Please take note of the following important information:

Parking Lot Access: Vehicles will not be allowed to enter the Kramer parking lot until 2:30 PM. This restriction is due to Mrs. Eckerle working with students during her PE unit, and some classes using the big blacktop area. The gate to the parking lot will be closed, and it will only be opened when classes are finished.

Avoid stacking on Sycamore Street: Please refrain from parking or stacking your cars on Sycamore Street before 2:30 PM. The Oxford Police Department (OPD) will assist in enforcing this rule to ensure that cars do not block the street or stack prematurely.

Drop-off Location: Do not drop students off at the corner of Sycamore and Locust. This practice poses a safety concern for our students. Instead, please use the designated vehicle drop-off area in the morning to drop off your child safely.

Exiting the Parking Lot: When leaving the Kramer parking lot, please turn right. Do not turn left onto Sycamore Street. Turning left in this area creates a backup in the vehicle drop-off area, and it's important to maintain a smooth traffic flow.

These guidelines are put in place to ensure the safety and efficiency of traffic around the Kramer parking lot and to minimize disruptions during school activities. Your cooperation in following these instructions is greatly appreciated. Thank you for helping to create a safe and organized environment for our students.
