BOGAN E-NEWS 12/3/21

School News and Information

We hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and were able to spend it with family and friends.  We have had a great week back.  Only a couple of weeks until winter break.  During this time we will be giving the MAP Assessment to take an inventory of how students are doing and to see their growth from the beginning of the school year.  Thank you for all your support at home and for encouraging your child to do their very best with their school work.  One way to help support your child is to encourage them to read 20 minutes each day.  In addition, have them practice their math facts.  These two things can help build their skills.

Cold and flu season has begun and this week we have experienced an increase in student absences due to illness.  Please remember to keep your child at home if they have a fever or show other signs of illness.  Please contact the main office at Bogan to report illness and absences.  The primary goal during these tough times related to Covid is to keep our schools open, so it's important to keep Covid and other illnesses in mind and be vigilant with handwashing, and other measures that keep illness at bay.  Please do not hesitate to contact the school nurse should you have any questions (513-273-3401).

After school foreign language

3rd, 4th, and 5th grade - If you are interested in after school foreign language, make sure to return your registration form as soon as possible, as it is on a first come first serve basis this year.

Cooler Weather

As the weather is turning cooler, please remember to send your child dressed to go outside at recess.  This means jackets, coats, hats, and gloves.  In general, we go outside for recess unless the temperature/wind chill drops below 25 degrees. Please label coats & hats with your student’s name.  If your child is in need of seasonally appropriate clothing, a coat, gloves or a hat, please reach out to Kelley Franks in the Bogan Office at 273-3403 or franksk@talawanda.org Thank you.

Cones marking traffic patterns

As the threat of snow/winter weather increases, we will need to remove the cones from the front parking lot for snow removal.  Please maintain the traffic patterns we’ve used all year.  For parent pick up and drop off, please stay right, along the curb to pull around back.  Buses only should access the left side of the front lot to pull up for student loading and unloading.  Thanks so much!

Information on Camp Kesem

Camp Kesem is an organization that serves children ages 6 to 18 who have lost a parent or guardian to cancer, have a parent undergoing cancer treatment, or whose parent is a cancer survivor. Camp Kesem at Miami of Ohio will be hosting an in-person camp session from July 16th through 23rd this summer, which is completely free to all children who attend. It is a wonderful opportunity for kids to make lifelong friends, have fun, and share their experiences with others who can relate.

Applications open on January 11 for returning families and February 23 for new families. They can be found at kesem.force.com. For more information, reach out to: miamiohio.outreach@kesem.org.
