Bogan E-News - October 5, 2017

Thank you to everyone that came to the Bogan Carnival!  What a fun night!  Thanks to our PTG for organizing a great event for our families and to all the volunteers for making the night possible.

THS Homecoming:

The Homecoming game against the Mt. Healthy Owls will take place on Friday October, 6, 2017 at 7:00 pm at THS.

KidStuff Coupon Book Fundraiser:

KidStuff Coupon Book Fundraiser will begin on Friday, October 13th!  Students will bring home a sample coupon book and information regarding the fundraiser.  These coupon books are geared toward kid/family activities and places.  Please support Bogan Elementary by purchasing a book and selling to friends and neighbors.

Curbside Pickup:

Please be courteous at pick-up at the end of the day.  Often busses and cars are arriving at the same time.  Please allow plenty of room for the busses to pass on the right hand side.  Patience is important as we move 415 students safely.

Attendance:

School districts have always been required to monitor student attendance.  Recently the State of Ohio passed HB 410 which implemented required steps that school districts must follow for all students who do not attend school on a regular basis.  In addition, school attendance is now recorded in hours and not days.  Every minute counts and each day that a student is absent is a little more than 6 hours.

Excellent school attendance, 95% or above for each child is our goal. This means a student misses less than 9 days of school in a year - 1 day per month.  Excellent attendance is a great predictor of success in school. We appreciate the support that parents give to see that their child is prepared and attending school on a daily basis.

As part of the requirements for HB 410, families of students that accumulate an excessive number of absence hours will be notified by mail from their individual school buildings.  Notices will be sent for all absences totaling the following number of hours:  38, 56, 65, 72.  In addition, notices will be be sent and a meeting scheduled for students who reach the following numbers of unexcused absences: 30 consecutive, 42 in a month, 72 in a year.

If you have any question, please contact the school office.

Families of Children with Exceptionalities

Hello! On behalf of our 70+ member group, Oxford Families of Children with Exceptionalities, we would like to invite and welcome you to help us grow and improve! Our little group started with 5 like-minded parents and has grown immensely! Our goal is to advocate, support, encourage, and share our journey’s as families of children with special needs.  We stay connected via our FB group and have wonderful, collaborative meetings with many local entities. We are currently in discussions with McCullough-Hyde/Tri-Health in attempts to bring more local therapists to Oxford. We have spoken to the City Manager about adding education for local law enforcement and first responders, and we are working with the schools to help ensure our kiddos receive all the services they deserve.  We are willing to help anyone in need of advocates to send a broader message to our town. You are NOT alone! Join Us!!! Please find us on FB or email Erin at paternem@miamioh.edu.
