TMS Enews 9/10/2021

TMS DOES NOT UNLOCK THE DOORS UNTIL 7:40 A.M.

IMPORTANT MORNING DROP-OFF and AFTERNOON PICK-UP INFORMATION

TMS Families: Please ensure that your student understands they must correctly wear a mask covering their mouth and nose anytime they are in the building. We are reminding students frequently but we also wanted to ask families to give these reminders as well. Students who correctly wear a mask have a greater chance of remaining in school if there were to be a quarantine situation. Our number one goal is for our students and staff to be safe and keep our buildings open. Thank you for your support with this.

TMS STUDENTS MUST BRING A CHARGED CHROMEBOOK EVERYDAY TO CLASS.

TMS and THS Athletic Ticketing:

Please see this flyer for information on how to purchase tickets for home TMS and THS events. Cash is not accepted at the gate.

Parents, please  make sure students bring their lunch cards with them to school.

We want them to have as much time as possible to enjoy their lunch.  Using their card gets them through the lunch line so much quicker.

6th Grade Parents/Guardians - Please complete the 6th Grade Student Contact Information Form (if you have not already done so).

This form will be used by ALL 6th grade teachers. Please only complete this form once per child in 6th grade.  This information helps the 6th grade staff get to know your child, and informs us who to contact to ensure that your child has a great year in 6th grade. We are looking forward to our year together!

brinckj@talawanda.org

Yearbook News - If for some reason you forgot to order a yearbook from last year and you still would like to have one, you are in luck.  I have a few copies of last year’s yearbook available for sale.  The cost of the yearbook is $28 either in cash or made payable to TMS and can be purchased on a first come first serve basis.  If you would like a copy please send me an email at burchs@talawanda.org and I will have one in the office for you to pick up.

FISHING CLUB - The Fishing Club generally meets once a month starting in October. Meetings generally last until 4:15 and are spent learning about fishing techniques, knot tying, lure making, casting games, etc. We do plan after school fishing trips in the spring when the weather is warmer. All students from grades 6 - 8 are welcome to attend, but space is limited. Sometimes a second session is opened if the numbers support it. Experienced “fishers” are often paired with beginners. The fishing Club is a great way to enjoy the outdoors and to create friendships while learning the skills of communication and cooperation.

LOOK FOR FLYERS IN THE BUILDING AND ON E-NEWS IN LATE SEPTEMBER!

THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS IMPORTANT FOR FAMILIES TO REVIEW REGULARLY. WE ASK THAT ALL TALAWANDA STUDENTS AND FAMILIES FAMILIARIZE THEMSELVES WITH THIS INFORMATION. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the COVID-19 virus is thought to spread mainly between people who are in close contact with one another through respiratory droplets. As we’ve learned more about COVID-19 transmission we now know that one’s risk increases if 15 minutes or more is spent within six feet, unmasked and three feet, masked, of someone that has COVID-19. Brief interactions are less likely to, but still can, result in transmission.

If your child experiences symptoms of respiratory illness (fever, coughing, or shortness of Breath, loss of smell or taste, respiratory issues, headache, or other illness), please contact your medical provider and the Butler County General Health District (513) 863-1770 or after hours at (877) 774-4636.

Per the CDC, watch for symptoms. People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. People with these symptoms may have COVID-19:

● Fever or chills

● Cough

● Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

● Fatigue

● Muscle or body aches

● Headache

● New loss of taste or smell

● Sore throat

● Congestion or runny nose

● Nausea or vomiting

● Diarrhea

This list does not include all possible symptoms. CDC will continue to update this list as we learn more about COVID-19 at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/symptoms-testing/symptoms.html.

*If your child’s symptoms progress and you are concerned about your health, seek medical attention immediately.

Per the CDC, When to Seek Emergency Medical Attention

Look for emergency warning signs* for COVID-19. If someone is showing any of these signs, seek emergency medical care immediately:

● Trouble breathing

● Persistent pain or pressure in the chest

● New confusion

● Inability to wake or stay awake

● Bluish lips or face

*This list is not all possible symptoms. Please call your medical provider for any other symptoms that are severe or concerning to you.

Call 911 or call ahead to your local emergency facility: Notify the operator that you are seeking care for someone who has or may have COVID-19.

If your child(ren) develop(s) symptoms or tests positive, your child(ren) must be cleared to return to school. Your child(ren) must be fever-free for 24 hours, have no symptoms, follow doctor and Butler County General Health District’s orders, and finish their quarantine if required.

Talawanda School District will keep all medical information confidential and will only disclose it on a need-to-know basis. Talawanda School District is required to notify the Butler County General Health District of individuals who have been in direct contact or tested positive.

We need to be notified if your child(ren) tests positive for COVID19.

Talawanda School District is taking measures to ensure the safety of our students and employees during this coronavirus outbreak, including:

Disinfecting workspaces, common areas, and frequently touched surfaces; using PPE

equipment; providing hand sanitizer; maintaining 6 feet distances; closing areas

from the public, professional development, mandated masks for both students and staff, cleaning of buses between routes and at the end of the day, daily temperature and wellness checks required, and individual building plans to reduce/stop the spread of COVID19.

For more information on COVID-19, including symptoms and treatment, visit the CDC

website at www.cdc.gov.

We know this letter is a concern to you and your family. We also know it is important to provide you with the information needed so that you and your family remain healthy. If you have any questions, please contact us.

In Safety and Health,

Dr. Edward Theroux
