TALAWANDA MIDDLE SCHOOL ENews 2/18/22

School News and Information:

Parents,

Third Quarter Interims were distributed to your child yesterday, February 17th. Attached you may find a fee statement as well. Please review both and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact the office. Interims are viewable on Progress Book.

TMS CONFERENCES ARE COMING UP!! Conferences will be held via Zoom.

Thursday, February 24 - 3:30pm to 6:45pm

Thursday, March 3 - 3:30 to 6:45pm

Please call the office if you would like to schedule a conference. You can call TMS’ office at 513.273.3301 or 513.273-3302 to schedule. The conference, again to be held via Zoom, will be 15 minutes long and your child’s team of teachers will be attending the conference.

Attention all parents of 6th grade students

All students entering the 7th grade in the fall of 2022 are required by Ohio School Law to show proof of the following immunizations BEFORE the start of the school year:

Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) vaccine

MCV4 (meningococcal) vaccine

Please check with your medical provider to see if your student has had these immunizations. You can have them fax the updated shot record directly to the school at 513.273.3303.

If your student has not had these immunizations, please contact your doctor of the Health Department to schedule an appointment. The Health Department provides vaccines for a nominal charge. No one will be denied vaccination at the Health Department for inability to pay.

These vaccines can be obtained at any time from now until the first day of 7th grade. As soon as the required immunizations are obtained, please bring a copy of your child’s shot record to school OR have your provider fax the shot record directly to TMS so that your child’s record can be updated.

Ongoing reminders:

TMS’ doors do not get unlocked until 7:40 am.

It is expected that students will bring their chromebook CHARGED to school

-If your child is absent from school for any reason, please to check Google Classroom or email teachers for missing assignments.

If your child is going to be absent, please notify the office by 9am by calling 513.273.3300 and following the prompts to the attendance line.

FEES: School fees can be paid on the TSD’s website via EZPay or you can send a check and have your child drop it off in the main office. Please remember that the Chromebook insurance fee cannot be waived. If you have any questions regarding fees, please call 513.273.3305.

TMS Cookie Dough SaleFebruary 17 - March 1, 2022

TMS Families,

This is our second opportunity to earn money for class trips sponsored by TMS. Ultimately, students are working towards the 8th grade class trip to Washington, D.C. Each student at TMS that chooses to participate in a TMS PTG Fundraiser will have a “travel” account to keep a record of how much they have earned during their time here at TMS. Please read the fine print below

School fundraisers are designed to assist students wanting to travel on class trips. If a student chooses to not travel, all money raised is forfeited to the TMS general scholarship fund. There is also a cap to how much profit a student is allowed to earn. The profit stops at 75.00 past the cost of the Washington, D.C. trip. All extra monies will be donated to the general scholarship fund. For example: earn $700 and the trip cost $600 -- you keep 75 and TMS will keep 25. This rarely happens, but we can’t let you pocket 100’s of dollars in profit. We are selling. . .

Mrs. Fields cookie dough - cost is $22.00 per box/kit. (32 cookies . . . 2.5 lb box).

The Cheesecake Factory cheesecakes - cost is $30.00 per cake. (7in & pre-sliced).

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE COOKIE DOUGH SALE

1- This fundraiser is voluntary. It only benefits your child(ren). You will earn $8.50 for each box of cookie dough and $8.00 for each cheesecake you sell.

2- All money is to be collected at the time of the sale. Checks are payable to TMS PTG.

Make sure your money matches your order (always double check).

3- Make sure your name and grade is on your form. Place form and money in an envelope or ziplock bag and turn into the TMS office before 1st period, or turn into Mr. Brinck in Rm 302.

4- The last day to turn in Cookie Dough orders is MARCH 1st. Cookie Dough delivery will be scheduled for early April (date TBA) starting @ 3:15pm (as soon as the buses leave TMS).

5- Turn in both order form sheets. I will give one back to you when you pick up your order.

6- There is an ONLINE Option. Scan the QR Code on the back of this letter.

The website will not activate until February 17, 2022 at 1am.
