School News and Information:

Parents,

Please be advised that second quarter report cards are being sent home with students today!   In addition, we are also sending LiveSchool login information–be sure to login so you can see your child’s behavior documentation.   If you need assistance with LiveSchool, please email Mrs. Aerni at aernis@talawanda.org.

1st and 2nd Quarter 3.5 and 4.0 Honor Roll certificates will be given out to students in the next week. Please be sure to ask your students to see their certificate!

All 8th Graders are invited to attend a Butler Tech field trip in early February. There are permission slips going home now, and there is an option for opting out of this field trip. All students must wear a mask on the bus as well as the entire time they are at Butler Tech. If your student cannot attend, they can still be given information about what Butler Tech has to offer! See your student's school counselor for more information.

Per Dr. Theroux’s letter to our District,   Talawanda School District will lift the mask mandate on Monday, January 10, 2022.  Like BCHD, we strongly recommend all individuals wear a mask and become fully vaccinated (including Boosters to those eligible).

If your child is sick, keep your child home and contact the school nurse or administrators for further instructions.  The mask requirement may change!  

Please note we will follow any ordinances, legal requirements, or BCHD orders so decisions may change throughout the year.  We will absolutely notify you of any changes as we learn them from health officials.

Ongoing reminders:

• TMS’ doors do not get unlocked until 7:40am.    

• It is expected that students will bring their chromebook CHARGED to school

     -If your child is absent from school for any reason, please remember to          email teachers for missing assignments.

• If your child is going to be absent, please notify the office by 9am by calling 513.273.3300 and following the prompts to the attendance line.

THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS IMPORTANT FOR FAMILIES TO REVIEW REGULARLY. WE ASK THAT ALL TALAWANDA STUDENTS AND FAMILIES FAMILIARIZE THEMSELVES WITH THIS INFORMATION. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR STUDENT’S BUILDING IF THERE ARE ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE. ANY STUDENTS/STAFF WHO HAVE BEEN DIRECTLY EXPOSED WILL BE CONTACTED IMMEDIATELY.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the COVID-19 virus is thought to spread mainly between people who are in close contact with one another through respiratory droplets. As we’ve learned more about COVID-19 transmission we now know that one’s risk increases if 15 minutes or more is spent within six feet, unmasked and three feet, masked, of someone that has COVID-19. Brief interactions are less likely to, but still can, result in transmission.

If your child experiences symptoms of respiratory illness (fever, coughing, or shortness of Breath, loss of smell or taste, respiratory issues, headache, or other illness), please contact your medical provider and the Butler County General Health District (513) 863-1770 or after hours at (877) 774-4636.

Per the CDC, watch for symptoms. People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. People with these symptoms may have COVID-19:

● Fever or chills

● Cough

● Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

● Fatigue

● Muscle or body aches

● Headache

● New loss of taste or smell

● Sore throat

● Congestion or runny nose

● Nausea or vomiting

● Diarrhea

This list does not include all possible symptoms. CDC will continue to update this list as we learn more about COVID-19 at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/symptoms-testing/symptoms.html.

*If your child’s symptoms progress and you are concerned about your health, seek medical attention immediately.

Per the CDC, When to Seek Emergency Medical Attention

Look for emergency warning signs* for COVID-19. If someone is showing any of these signs, seek emergency medical care immediately:

● Trouble breathing

● Persistent pain or pressure in the chest

● New confusion

● Inability to wake or stay awake

● Bluish lips or face

*This list is not all possible symptoms. Please call your medical provider for any other symptoms that are severe or concerning to you.

Call 911 or call ahead to your local emergency facility: Notify the operator that you are seeking care for someone who has or may have COVID-19.

If your child(ren) develop(s) symptoms or tests positive, your child(ren) must be cleared to return to school. Your child(ren) must be fever-free for 24 hours, have no symptoms, follow doctor and Butler County General Health District’s orders, and finish their quarantine if required.

Talawanda School District will keep all medical information confidential and will only disclose it on a need-to-know basis. Talawanda School District is required to notify the Butler County General Health District of individuals who have been in direct contact or tested positive.

We need to be notified if your child(ren) tests positive for COVID19.

Talawanda School District is taking measures to ensure the safety of our students and employees during this coronavirus outbreak, including:

Disinfecting workspaces, common areas, and frequently touched surfaces; using PPE

equipment; providing hand sanitizer; maintaining 6 feet distances; closing areas

from the public, professional development, mandated masks for both students and staff, cleaning of buses between routes and at the end of the day, daily temperature and wellness checks required, and individual building plans to reduce/stop the spread of COVID19.
