From the Guidance Department

Parents and Students,

The process of applying to college can be intimidating, but many students and parents worry about one aspect in particular: the ACT® test. A great ACT® score can open doors to funding and admission. With colleges more selective and expensive than ever, an investment in your student’s ACT® score is an investment in his/her future.

We are offering our students a free ACT@ test at Talawanda High School and the opportunity to partner with TorchPrep, an innovative test prep program that cracks the code on improving ACT® scores. Through strategy-driven training focused on repetition, customization, and motivation, TorchPrep will help your student overcome the ACT®.

TorchPrep has continually yielded outstanding ACT® scores for our students. Whether you’re trying to get into the college of your choice or secure scholarship money, TorchPrep is worth it!

Test: Saturday, 11/16/19, 10AM-2PM

Assembly: TBD (during the school day)

Reminders:

  • Girls Who Code at Miami University aims to close the gender gap in computer science. We do this by teaching and mentoring 6th-12th graders on how to become great coders. Our club meets on Saturdays from 1-3pm. We provide an educational and fun environment filled with games, coding projects, and new coding concepts each week. If you are interested in coding or technology and like to have fun, then we are the club for you. See more here!

  • Senior picture deadline for the yearbook has been set to March 6th.  Please email your senior picture to yearbook@talawanda.org before the deadline to make sure your image gets into the 2020 THS yearbook!

  • Athletic Sports Passes are available for purchase. More info here.

  • The THS Choral Program will be running its first fundraiser of the year by offering great products from Otis Spunkmeyer.  One of the top names in cookie sales, Otis Spunkmeyer also provides cheesecakes, pretzels, bakery rolls, and many other fall seasonal treats - with the proceeds benefiting the talented and ambitious students of the THS Choirs.  The sale will run from Tuesday, Sept 3 to Tuesday, Sept 17. Payment methods include cash, checks (made payable to TALAWANDA HIGH SCHOOL), and even credit card through our online store option. Find a Choir member today and savor some snacks while enjoying the music you help support!
