Talawanda High School E-News August 26, 2022

 

Important Information and Reminders:

 

  • We are excited to announce a new opportunity for our parents and guardians, Coffee with the Principal!  This is an opportunity to see the wonderful things going on at Talawanda High School and for our administrative team to answer any questions you may have.  The first date will be Wednesday, August 31st

              from 9:00-10:00 a.m.

 

  • In an effort to streamline our student pass system, we have signed on with eHallpass this year. This web-based program, which can be accessed by students using a free app or their Chromebooks, allows us to sign students into and out of class without utilizing a single sheet of paper. We were able to secure this technology through a safety grant last spring. If you are interested in learning more about this system, please watch this student eHallpass Overview Video.

ONLY ONLINE TICKETS WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THE GATE.  NO CASH!

 

Senior Citizens passes are available for $20 for the year and are accepted

at all home high school and middle school games.  Passes are available at the

high school athletic office. 

 

  • The first boys basketball open gym on Thursday 9/1 afterschool from 3:00-4:30.

 

  • The yearbooks for 2021-22 are in!  If your child ordered a yearbook and did not pick it up during the open house, they will be available during lunch or in room 301.  If you did not order one, but would like to purchase an extra copy, you can send your student to room 301 with $65 in either cash, or a check made out to Talawanda High School.  Any questions or concerns can be emailed to zimmermana@talawanda.org!

 

If you would like to purchase a copy of the 2022-23 yearbook, please visit yearbookforever.com and search 'talawanda'.  They are on sale for $60 until September 30th, when the price increases to $65!  The last day to purchase your copy of this year's yearbook is May 30th, but don't wait forever!  The site to purchase your yearbook will also give you a chance to design a senior ad for your child, so make sure you check it out too!

  • Sign ups for the October 12th PSAT will begin Monday, August 22.  Students should visit Miss Wise in the guidance office to register.  The cost is $20.  You must be a current 10th or 11th grader.  The cutoff to sign up is Friday, September 9th.  Please contact Mr. Phelps if you have any questions- phelpsb@talawanda.org.

 

All Students Interested in Mock Trial:  Our season begins on Tuesday, August 30 5:30-7:30 in room 417 (Old and New Members should attend). For more information go to:  https://sites.google.com/talawanda.org/weatherwax/mock-trial

  • The Perfect Blend is a coffee shop opening at THS serving students and staff on Tuesdays and Fridays.  The Perfect Blend will be run by students in the Class23 program here at THS.  Class23 students are students with disabilities who are focused on improving their communication and employability skills.  The Perfect Blend will offer an amazing opportunity for all THS students to have coffee, learn, and collaborate.

 

  • Best Buddies will hold our first meeting of the year next Thursday, September 1 right after school in Room 316! Best Buddies promotes inclusion here at THS and matches students with and without disabilities in friendship matches. We encourage anyone interested in the club to join us for an ice cream party and to learn more. Email Mrs. Sammons at sammonsa@talawanda.org for any questions!
