  E-News 4/22/22

  

 

 

  • If students are interested in CCP for the fall semester, the application deadline is May 1st.  See your school counselor if you have any questions.

 

  • Summer School Registration is Live!!!  Please click the link below to register for summer school.  Summer school is for credit recovery, but we also have 3 classes for advancement.  http://bit.ly/THSSummerSchool

 

  • THS Prom is back at Shriver Center and will be better than ever!  May 7th from 8:30 pm-12:00am. Students are REQUIRED to sign in by 9:00 pm to be admitted to the prom, so plan parking and other details accordingly.  Tickets will be sold at school during lunch and can be reserved via email/google form ( for those students off campus).  Outside guests who do not attend THS/Butler Tech may go to our prom as a guest of a THS student, but are required to provide a copy of an ID that shows date of birth and/or grade level.  Attendees of prom must be under the age of 21.  We can’t wait for PROM to be back at Shriver!  Cost per ticket is $40.00, which includes admission to After Prom at the REC Center.  Each junior/senior may purchase a limit of 2 tickets.  

 

  • Class of 2022 Graduation ceremony will be held on May 26, 2022 at 7:00 at Millett Hall, Miami University.  As of right now, there are no restrictions on masks or the number of guests attending.  There will be no reserving seats or sections prior to the ceremony, first come first serve. 

 

  •  Graduation Rehearsal will be held on May 26th at 11:00 am at Millett Hall. Please plan on attending, this is MANDATORY to participate in the commencement ceremony.

 

  • Senior Reflections will be held on Friday May 20th at Peffer Park.  Stay tuned for more information!  Also, please stop by Mr. Tincher’s room 124 for your free Senior T-Shirt!

 

  • Senior school fees and all charges must be paid in order to participate in the graduation program.  You can pay through our  EZPay system or cash/ check can be brought to the main office.  Last day to pay with a check is May 6th.  Cash or EZ Pay only  after May 6th.

 

 

  • National Honor Society SENIORS may pick up their graduation stoles from Ms. Alfonsi in room 315 immediately after school on Monday April 25, Wednesday, April 27 or Monday, May 2.  The stoles are $23.00 each; cash or checks made payable to Talawanda High School.  Students may also email Ms. Alfonsi at alfonsic@talawanda.org to set up an individual pick-up time.  If the cost is prohibitive for any NHS senior, please email Ms. Alfonsi.

 

 

  • Please support the class of 2025 by ordering a t-shirt from Custom Ink or donating to our annual fundraiser. All funds will go directly to the homecoming dance in the fall of 2022. T-shirts can be shipped directly to your home or will be delivered to each school building for pickup. Thanks in advance for your support of the Class of 2025!   • Please review your student’s lunch account through your EZPay account.  Failure to repay school meal charges at the end of the school year, the charge will be included as a school fee and carried over to the next school year.  High School Seniors must pay all school fees in order to participate in the high school graduation program.

TEEN WRITING CONTEST

 

Calling all teen writers! This contest is for you! Enter your original short story or poem for a chance to win a prize. Entries will be accepted from April 1 – 30.

Email your submission as an attachment to: teenswrite@lanepl.org. (You will receive a “thank you” email within 48 hours of submitting your work. If you do not receive this email, please double check that you sent your short story/poem to the correct email address. If you have any questions or concerns please direct them to Celeste Swanson at c.swanson@lanepl.org)

Please note the following guidelines:

  • You must be ages 12 – 18 to enter.

  • Entries must be typed, double-spaced, and attached to the email as a file attachment.

  • Please include your name, age, phone number, and email address.

  • Entries must be submitted as a Word doc, Google doc, or PDF.

  • Entries may not exceed 2,000 words or 5 pages.

  • Limit 1 poem and 1 short story entry per person.

  • Work must be original, not previously published, and titled.

 

 

 

 

Work will be judged on originality, clarity, ideas presented, voice, word choice, presentation, sentence structure, syntax and spelling.

Prizes will be awarded at the awards ceremony held at the Fairfield Lane Library on Thursday, May 19, 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.

1st place: $50.00 Amazon gift card

2nd place: $25.00 Amazon gift card
