THS Student Incident with Social Media

 

Today a Talawanda High School student shared a statement on social media in regards to their discontent over not being able to vape at school.  The statement included a threat against the school. The administration acted quickly, and made contact with the student immediately. Local law enforcement was brought in as per district procedures.

 

The student was upset.  It was quickly determined by the authorities that there was not a threat to students, staff, or the school facility.  The district is grateful to the well trained administration and local police who resolved the situation rapidly and safely.  

 

Talawanda regularly trains and practices safety procedures.  Students and staff in Talawanda have received the "see something, say something" training, and this proved to be effective in managing the situation today.  We thank the Talawanda community for their continued support and want to take this opportunity to be transparent regarding the event from today.
