Marshall Elementary Weekly E-News

December 3, 2021

A Peaceful, Productive, Healthy, and Happy Community

The mission of Marshall Elementary is to work as a community to achieve higher levels of thinking and learning by empowering every learner everyday.

School News and Information

We hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and were able to spend it with family and friends.  We have had a great week back.  Only a couple of weeks until winter break.  During this time we will be giving the MAP Assessment to take an inventory of how students are doing and to see their growth from the beginning of the school year.  Thank you for all your support at home and encouraging your child to do their very best with their school work.  One way to help support your child is to encourage them to read 20 minutes each day.  In addition, have them practice their math facts.  These two things can help build their skills.

2021-2022 Yearbook Orders

Please see this linked flyer to order your yearbook online.  Cost is $18 and order are due by February 25, 2022

Information on Camp Kesem

Camp Kesem is an organization that serves children ages 6 to 18 who have lost a parent or guardian to cancer, have a parent undergoing cancer treatment, or whose parent is a cancer survivor. Camp Kesem at Miami of Ohio will be hosting an in-person camp session from July 16th through 23rd this summer, which is completely free to all children who attend. It is a wonderful opportunity for kids to make lifelong friends, have fun, and share their experiences with others who can relate.

Applications open on January 11 for returning families and February 23 for new families. They can be found at kesem.force.com. For more information, reach out to miamiohio.outreach@kesem.org.

Drop off and Pick Up Reminders

We have seen an increase in the number of cars dropping off and picking up students.  Please pull forward and fill in all available space in the line so that we can keep the line as short as possible and keep the line moving.  Please make sure you have your name sign displayed so we can easily enter the names for the correct pick up order.  Thank you for your help.

Cooler Weather

As the weather is turning cooler, please remember to send your child dressed to go outside at recess.  This means jackets, coats, hats, and gloves.  In general, we go outside for recess unless the temperature/wind chill drops below 25 degrees. Please label coats & hats with your student’s name. Thank you.

Fees

School fees can be paid on the Talawanda website via EZPay or by sending a check to school with your child.  Please include the child’s name in the memo.

Absences

If your child is going to be absent, please call the Marshall Attendance Line @ 513-273-3600 by 10:00 a.m.

COVID 19 Quarantine Procedures Q and A - Previously Shared

Mrs. Morrish shared the following:

See link/information on the website regarding COVID19 test kits and other frequently asked questions related to test kits.

COVID 19 Test Kits & Other Information.

We have created a document where you can read the procedures for quarantine.  If we receive any new information, we will add it to the document and also share it in E-News.

COVID 19 Quarantine Procedures Q and A

Covid-19 Protocols

Talawanda recently received the updated recommendations regarding Covid-19 protocols from the Ohio Department of Health.  These recommendations seem to provide some additional ways in which to provide in-person learning in public schools in Ohio for students that may have been exposed to Covid-19 in our schools, while still taking precautions to keep students and staff at low risk of exposure to the Covid-19 virus.  Students will be permitted to eat together during breakfast and lunch sessions, but masks will still be required immediately before and after eating.  We will continue to monitor Covid-19 risks/exposures/cases, and should the number of cases increase these recommendations may change. We will continue to monitor person-to-person direct contact to reduce the risk of exposure.  It is the goal of everyone to keep students and staff healthy.  The recommendations provide ways for exposed students to stay in school/school classrooms if specific guidelines are met, and to allow students that have been exposed but do not show symptoms to stay in extra-curricular if they adhere to the recommended testing protocols.  Covid-19 tests must be proctored tests or done in a medical facility, pharmacy, or physician's office.

Please remember that the CDC has a federal mask mandate in place for school buses, the city of Oxford has a city-wide mask ordinance in place, and the TSD Board of Education requires masks to be worn inside TSD facilities.

Thank you for your continued understanding and support as we all work to best manage school issues related to the pandemic.  We continue to be in near-constant communication with the Butler County Health Department and will continue to follow their direction as our local county health authority.  We will notify school personnel and families as soon as possible should there be any changes to Covid-19 information and protocols.
