Kramer PTG Carnival Update

Thank you to everyone that attended the PTG meeting on Monday night.  We had a great turnout! Thank you to the carnival committee of, Betsy, Brian, Emily, Jill, Megan & Molly for organizing the Kramer Carnival. Please see the message from the carnival committee:

It's almost Kramer Carnival time!  The Carnival committee has been working hard to plan a fun & successful event for Kramer kids.  We need your help make Kramer Carnival a success! Our first sign-up is is for food donations (not gourmet for Cake & Pie auction). We need mass quantities of baked goods - both decorated & plain - as well as candy for prizes.  Please see the Sign-Up Genius for details.

Our second sign-up for the Kramer Carnival is to set up, work the event & break down.  We need approximately 85 volunteers to put on this event. We try to source volunteers from Miami, the high school, middle school & every service organization that we can find.  Ultimately, we need parents to help us out - 1 hour of your time to help run a game, setup or breakdown. This is our second largest fundraiser of the year - we made over $9,700 last year - and we want to continue to see it to be successful.

Paws for a Cause

My name is Kate Marti and I am this year's awareness chair for Paws for a Cause Miami!

As you may know we are having an event again this year called 'Hike-a-Thon' at Miami Natural Trails. It is on Saturday, September 29th from 9:00-2:00. As an organization we are currently in the midst of fundraising to get a service dog park on campus. At Hike-a-Thon we have the opportunity to get some of our fundraising money matched, but only if we walk 2,000 miles on that day!

It's a great event for everyone and there are a few local booths plus different hiking trail opportunities. We will also have the dogs there at various points throughout the day!

DI Information

Destination Imagination is an innovative creative problem-solving STEAM program for participants in kindergarten through high school. Teams of 5 to 7 students are challenged to solve one of six unique Team Challenges and an Instant Challenge with no adult assistance. Teams pick one of six challenges providing an opportunity to explore science, technology, engineering, fine arts, improv, and service. The season culminates with each team presenting at a tournament in the spring. Grades 3-12 compete against other area teams to qualify for competition at the Ohio state tournament and grades K-2 do a non-competitive Rising Stars challenge. Interest forms have been sent home in today's Friday Folders!

Our regional tournament will be held in March at Springboro Schools. Teams forming will require a parent or other adult that is willing to volunteer their time to be a team manager. Free Manager/Coach training sessions are available in the fall.

It is time to begin forming and registering teams for this year. Please contact me in the near future if you are interested in helping to coach/manage a Destination Imagination team this year. Without managers, we cannot have teams. We will be hosting an information meeting about Destination Imagination on Wednesday, September 18th, from 6:30-7:30pm at the Oxford Lane Library upstairs meeting room. Parents and students are welcome to attend. We will explain the program, how teams are formed, and how to become a team manager. Sign ups will also be available for children interested in participating.
