School News and Information

Happy Friday! 

 

State testing is in full swing.  Our students in grades 3-5 did a great job this week.  Please continue to encourage your child to do their best.

 

Please remember that there is no school for students on April 15th and 18th.  Students will return on Tuesday, April 19, 2022.  

 

World Central Kitchen Update- Cake Rolls

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Cake Roll sale.  We sold an amazing 1500 cake rolls and will donate $8000 to World Central Kitchen!

Education and Sharing Day

The Talawanda School District marks the 120th birthday of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, by proclaiming April 12th, “Education and Sharing Day.” The City of Oxford has also shared a declaration and proclamation for this event.  This day is devoted to recognizing the importance of education and sharing in the lives of our students.

Kindergarten Registration is Tuesday, April 12th

Any child in Talawanda School District whose fifth birthday is on or before August 1st of the calendar year is eligible to register for kindergarten for the coming school year. Please call the school office at 513-273-3501 to register your child. Kramer Kindergarten Registration

 

Talawanda LitCamp- Mrs. James

I'm writing to invite you to enroll your student in the TSD Summer LitCamp from June 6 - June 10.  The program is FREE and transportation is provided.

Click here to register online or return the paper form sent home recently (which also has an online option via QR code).

 

This program is a great way to prevent summer slide and help your student stay summer strong!

Talawanda LitCamp Details:

- Where?  Kramer Elementary School, 400 W. Sycamore St., Oxford, OH 45056

- How?  Free transportation from area locations (see digital form for exact pickup/dropoff spots)

- When?  9:30-12:00, June 6 - June 10, 2022 

- Who?  LitCamp is open to current PreK students moving on to KG, through current 5th graders heading to TMS 

- Why?  To support and motivate our striving readers to keep reading and writing this summer!

 LitCamp makes school feel more like a summer camp to create fun, high-quality literacy learning:

- Opening and closing "Campfires" with songs, read alouds, and opportunities to perform

- Libraries of books and activities to support the "7 Strengths" for reading success

- DAILY LESSONS, Small Groups, and 1:1 teacher support for reading and writing

- Daily snacks and outdoor exploration

- FREE BOOKS for students to self-select and keep for reading all summer

 LitCamp does not conflict with the dates for OLT's Super Summer Readers program in Oxford. More information on this coming soon!

6th Grade Band Fitting- Mr. Marston

We will be having a band instrument fitting on Tuesday, April 12 from 4-7 at the middle school. This is for students who plan to be in the beginning band next year to try instruments and decide what they would like to play. Please use this link to access the flyer.

 

May 3, 2022- Election Day- No School

There is no school on Tuesday, May 3, 2022.  This is a PD for staff due to buildings being used for voting.  



The City of Oxford is Developing a NEW Comprehensive Plan

 

The city of Oxford is in the beginning stages of the next comprehensive plan.  Talawanda School District has a voice on the city Recreation Board, and we've been asked to share the website Oxford Tomorrow, where community members can provide input and stay informed about this process.  This includes the potential development for recreational options/facilities and community activities.  Check it out!

The Oxford NAACP Education Committee is seeking nominations for the 2022 Diversity Educator of the Year.

Oxford Lane Library Tutoring Program

Students Helping Students" program.                       

Tuesdays, 4pm - 7pm

Tutoring in Math and ELA will be available to grades 5 - 8.  Masks will be required and can be provided.  Like last semester, students need to call the library to register each week (513) 523-7531.

Fees

Chromebook/IPad insurance cannot be waived.  School fees can be paid on the Talawanda website via EZPay or by sending a check to school with your child.  Please include the child’s name in the memo. 

 

Employment

We are looking for Lunch Monitors and substitute Lunch Monitors in our cafeteria.  Please call the school office if interested.  513-273-3501

Absences 

If your child is going to be absent, please call the Kramer Attendance Line @ 513-273-3500 by 10:00 a.m. 

TSD Lunch Program

The National Lunch Program has extended the free meal status for all students for breakfast and lunch for the 2021-2022 school year.  It is still important to turn in the Free/Reduced Lunch Application in order to qualify for other benefits.

The Kramer Lunch Menu has some changes (due to delivery issues).  Mrs. Pence has adjusted the menu and it is in the link below.  I will announce the menu the day before at school.
