School News and Information

Happy Thursday!

Please remember that there is no school for students on April 15th and 18th.  Students will return on Tuesday, April 19, 2022.

Our 4th graders have completed their state testing this week.  Our 3rd and 5th graders will complete their testing next week.  We will also complete any testing for students that were absent.

Talawanda LitCamp- Mrs. James

Click here to register online or return the paper form sent home recently (which also has an online option via QR code).

This program is a great way to prevent summer slide and help your student stay summer strong!

Talawanda LitCamp Details:

LitCamp makes school feel more like a summer camp to create fun, high-quality literacy learning:

- Opening and closing "Campfires" with songs, read alouds, and opportunities to perform

- Libraries of books and activities to support the "7 Strengths" for reading success

- DAILY LESSONS, Small Groups, and 1:1 teacher support for reading and writing

- Daily snacks and outdoor exploration

- FREE BOOKS for students to self-select and keep for reading all summer

LitCamp does not conflict with the dates for OLT's Super Summer Readers program in Oxford. More information on this coming soon!

If you have questions about LitCamp contact Kathy James, Literacy Coordinator, at jamesk@talawanda.org.

Thanks for considering this great opportunity for your student!

The City of Oxford is Developing a NEW Comprehensive Plan

The city of Oxford is in the beginning stages of the next comprehensive plan.  Talawanda School District has a voice on the city Recreation Board, and we've been asked to share the website Oxford Tomorrow, where community members can provide input and stay informed about this process.  This includes the potential development for recreational options/facilities and community activities.  Check it out!

The National Lunch Program has extended the free meal status for all students for breakfast and lunch for the 2021-2022 school year.  It is still important to turn in the Free/Reduced Lunch Application in order to qualify for other benefits.

The Kramer Lunch Menu has some changes (due to delivery issues).  Mrs. Pence has adjusted the menu and it is in the link below.  I will announce the menu the day before at school.
