This structured approach is designed to help students develop essential skills in a systematic and sequential manner. It has proven to be particularly beneficial for students with dyslexia and other reading difficulties, but it is also valuable for all students, as it builds a robust foundation for literacy.
Here are a few key aspects of the Orton-Gillingham approach:
-Systematic and Sequential Instruction: The approach teaches language components, such as phonemes and graphemes, in a logical and sequential order. This helps students understand the structure of language.
-Phonics Emphasis: Orton-Gillingham focuses on phonics, ensuring that students grasp the relationships between sounds and letters, which is fundamental for reading and writing proficiency.
